Prof. Jörn Walter
Prof. Walter was born in Bremen in 1957. After studying urban planning at Dortmund University he worked as an urban development clerk in Dusseldorf and was Head of the Office for Urban Development and Environment Maintal. He was Head of the Urban Planning Office Dresden from 1991 to 1999 has been Chief Planning Officer of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg since 1999. He taught at the Technical Universities Vienna and Dresden as well as at the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg, he is currently teaching at the HafenCity University Hamburg. Furthermore, he has been appointed to three academies and acts in numerous committees in the field of urban development, e.g. as a member of the Advisory Board of the Federal Foundation of Baukultur and of the urban development committee of the Association of German Cities. He has received various awards such as the BDA Baukulturpreis Hamburg 2012 and publishes on questions of urban development and architecture.
