Carsten Venus was born in Stuttgart in 1967. He studied architecture at the University of Washington and received his diploma in architecture at RWTH Aachen in 1996. After several years of project management with BRT Architekten BDA in Hamburg, he has been founding member and managing director of blauraum Architekten GmbH in Hamburg since 2002. He was awarded lectureships at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen and at the HCU HafenCity University Hamburg and conducted a research project on behalf of the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR). Since 2012 he has been board member of the Hamburg Chamber of Architects (HAK) and since 2014 chairman of the Working Group Housing of the HAK.
