HG Merz is founder and CEO of hg merz architekten museumsgestalter and mm+. From 1993 to 2007 professorship for Exhibition Design and Visual Communication at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, since 2008 professorship for Conceptual and Experimental Design at TU Darmstadt. Since 2013 chairperson of the University Council of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. His office, founded in Stuttgart in 1981 and expanded by branches in Berlin and Hong Kong, is specialised in exhibition and museum design as well as visual communication and media planning. The second focus is restauration and repair of historically significant buildings. HG Merz often cooperates with other architectural teams in his projects, e.g. Daniel Libeskind, UNStudio or BIG. HG Merz curates exhibitions, designs museums, draws up master plans for cultural institutions and consults clients and architects.
